    Deep in the Sweet Swamp

    Volunteer Event-8/1

    10:00 am-1:00 pm

Hello Volunteers. We have some work to do in Gresham! This is a small site tucked inside residential land about 12 miles East of Portland. It’s been undergoing some significant restoration and now could use trash retrieval, erosion control, and bramble clipping. Please consider joining us for 3 hours of socially distant group work at the very beginning of next month.

    Date: Saturday, August 1st
    Time: 10am-1pm
Location: Gresham Meadowlands (exact address upon RSVP)
Activities: Meet the wetland and then help us remove pesky climbers like clematis, morning glory, and blackberry. We will also grab any trash we may find, and install a beaver dam analogue made from dogwood and willow stakes!

Here is a short video demonstrating the effects of beaver dam analogues, for those of you who may be interested. Posted on YouTube by Science Magazine.

Tools, bags, and gloves are provided. If you prefer to bring your own, you may, but no power tools please. Dress for the weather and wear long pants and a shirt to protect you from thorns! Closed-toed shoes are a must, so let us know if we can help out by providing a pair of rubber boots. Please also bring a mask in case you find yourself working in close proximity to others.

    To RSVP: Reply to volunteer@wetlandsconservancy.org.
Feel free to tell friends who may be interested, but make sure they RSVP as well since work groups are limited to no more than 10 people.
